First call for help

The design team needs some Boards users to do a little bit of work for us. We'd like some help.

Who are you looking for?

We're looking for users of Boards.ie. There's no other prerequisites.

What do you need to know about me?

Not much. We really only want to know four things about you. These are:

  1. You username at Boards.
  2. A rough idea of your age.
  3. Whether or not you are a student. If you are a student, we need to know if your course is IT-related.
  4. A very rough idea of your profession.

To give you an idea of what I mean by this, here's the information I would give:

  1. My username is JustHalf.
  2. I'm in my early twenties.
  3. I'm not a student.
  4. I'm a web designer.

The reason we need this information is so that we get a better idea about who the users of Boards are, and to make sure our testing is representative.

What will I be asked to do?

You'll be asked to take a look at eight different websites, and fill out a form we'll provide you with. This form is a list of polar opposites: a pair of words with completely opposite meanings to each other. We want to find out where you believe Boards sits between these two extremes.

What's the point in all of this?

These tests will help us to figure out what the users of Boards think about the site. We're trying to discover what the brand of the site is. By testing other sites with the same users, we can see where Boards sits relative to them.

Part of the teams mandate is to maintain the brand of the site. These tests will allow us to verify that we have done this.

What's in it for me?

These tests will help the design team to do a better job, and provide you with a better site. You'll also be credited with your contribution.

How do I get involved?

Just send a private message to me (I'm JustHalf). I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Regards,
David Barrett.
